X3 Fills In Some Casting Holes...

Hey guys, it's Donnie...Aside from the mutant whore, this latest round of casting additions seems to account for all the major announced characters, except for Gambit, but I'm becoming more and more convinced that he's gonna be playing a fairly minor role, ala Colossus in X2.

I have to admit, I'm actually pretty happy with these additions to the cast. Olivia Williams is the perfect counterpart to Patrick Stewart's Professor X. Michael Murphy should allay fears that Warren Worthington would be repeating William Stryker's plotline. Even if that's the case, Murphy and Brian Cox are two very different actors, and I'm sure Murphy will bring a much different sense to the story than Cox did, even if the plots are as similar as people have been saying. And Bill Duke, well, that guy kicks serious ass. He was in Predator. 'Nuff said.

Here's the breakdown, complete with pictures:

Olivia Williams: Dr. Moira MacTaggert

Dr MacTaggert is a former flame of Professor X and runs a mutant research center on Muir Island in Scotland. She's heavily involved in the Legacy Virus storyline and was mother to mutant Proteus.

Michael Murphy: Warren Worthington Sr.

Warren Worthington is the father of Angel (Ben Foster) and is apparantly obsessed with curing his son of his mutant powers. Murphy recently played the Mayor of Gotham in Batman Begins (which, coincidentally, just passed the $200 million mark, making it the third highest grossing film of the year and the second highest grossing Batman film ever. And the sequel still hasn't been officially greenlit. Come on Chris Nolan, sign the papers and let's get goin already!!)

Bill Duke: Unnamed Presidential Cabinet Member

Rumors had been flying back and forth that Duke would be playing the guy who invented the Sentinels, despite repeated claims by the-powers-that-be that the Sentinels were not going to be a part of this film. As of right now, Duke is onboard as a member of the President's Cabinet. Perhaps he "invents the Sentinels" the way Al Gore "invented the internet", meaning he passed the proper funding and legislation to make it happen. We'll see I suppose.
