Cream Of The Trailertown Crop!

Hey guys, it's Donnie...the last two days has seen four very high profile trailers hit the web, so brace yourself, cuz a few of these are seriously gonna kick your ass...

First up we've got Aeon Flux, and well, here's the thing: I've only seen the first half of this thing. Why you ask? Because it's in Windows Media and hosted on MTV, so whenever it gets a buffering hiccup, the whole thing just fails. The ad in front of it plays just fine of course, but the best I could do was half a trailer and then the damn thing crashed on me. I kinda liked what I saw, but, to be honest, Charlize doesn't really do it for me in and of herself and I never really saw the old cartoon, so I hope there's alot of substance to back up the excessive style they've had on display to date.

Next comes Stay, a flick I hadn't really heard to much about but has quite the enviable cast: Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts, Ryan Gosling and Bob Hoskins among others. It's got something to do with a psychiatrist and dead people...sound familiar? Hmm...despite the familiar sounding premise, it's directed by Marc Foster, whose work on Finding Neverland was absolutely splendid. Let's hope he can really deliver here. It certainly looks like a bit of a mindjob. Hopefully it won't get ruined by another lame twist ending, as tends to happen with these sort of movies...

Alright, now that you're nice and warmed up, let's get to the bread and butter...

Now that they've finally seemed to settle on a release date, we've finally got the theatrical trailer for Tony Scott and Richard Kelly's quasi-true story Domino. The teaser was sort of all over the place but this trailer rocks hard. We still get a bunch of voiceover, but that's okay, cuz here we get a glimpse of just how complex and fucked up this story really is. And talk about an amazing cast...Mickey Rourke, Lucy Liu, Christopher Walken, and the lovely Keira Knightley. Goddamn it this is gonna be great!

Finally...well, apparantly I underestimated the other day, because the Jarhead trailer hit this morning and...wow. That's really all I have to say. The music is quirky and great, the imagery is startling and the performances all look top notch. Looks like Jamie Foxx is about the smash that Oscar curse to pieces. He could potentially be up for a Best Supporting Actor award this year. How about them apples? While it's a little long to be an outright teaser, it's heavy on the imagery and light on story, so I would expect a slightly more plot-driven trailer to hit somewhere down the line. Doesn't matter, I don't need to see it, I'm already goin.
