Murrow's Looking Good

Hey guys, it's Donnie...I'm a big fan of George Clooney's first directorial effort, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind. In fact, I just bought it on DVD. Aside from virtuoso performances by Sam Rockwell as well as Clooney, the direction is vibrant and fluid and totally pops off the screen and if anything I walked out of that theater excited to see what he would do next.

Well, he's staying in the genre of historical drama with his next project, Goodnight and Good Luck. The film follows soft spoken journalistic giant Edward R. Murrow and his campaign against the Army-McCarthy hearings in the midst of the Red Scare. David Strathairn portrays Murrow while Clooney again takes on the supporting role of Murrow's producer Fred Friendly. I snagged an image of Strathairn as Murrow, and I've gotta say it looks pretty sweet.

The lighting is great, at Strathairn certainly looks alot like Murrow. You can also check out the one sheet right here. I hear that he absolutely knocks it out of the park, and that Clooney's sophomore directorial effort is also pretty solid. It's scheduled to hit theaters in October and word is that the folks at Warners are pretty psyched about it. Between this and the upcoming CIA drama Syrianna, it looks to be a good year for Clooney, and I really wouldn't be surprised if you start hearing his name mentioned along with the phrase "Oscar nomination(s)" in the coming months.
