Sin City Is A Tease

Hey guys, it's Donnie...There's nothing more frustrating than a barebones DVD release. I still refuse to purchase the individual Kill Bill discs (two movies I absolutely loved) because there's nothing on them. If I'm gonna drop a serious dime on a movie, especially a movie like Kill Bill, I want that puppy loaded to the gills (mixed metaphor much?) with special features, deleted scenes and a stylish box set packaging. I hate buying a movie only to see a better version of it released a few months later.

Well, this morning I got all excited because I stumbled upon the images for the individual character covers for the impending release of Sin City into DVDLand. You can check 'em out here. On the whole, I rather like them as a collection, although I'm not sure if I'd want to have just one of them. I think it was rather smart to pair off the major guy and girl characters so everyone can get their fix of whomever they crave. That being said, the Marv and Goldie cover leaves something to be desired. Is it just me or does Marv look extremely confused? Maybe he had one too many of Robert Rodriguez's Sin City Breakfast Tacos...

So imagine my disappointment when I learned that all the cool special features that had been announced, the 20 Minute Flick School, the Behind The Scenes with QT directing the car scene, the ability to watch individual storylines uninterrupted complete with footage that wasn't in the theatrical release, all that cool stuff is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND on the DVD that will hit shelves on August 16th. In fact, the collectible covers seem to be the only special feature included in this release. If you want all the goodies, you're gonna have to wait for the next version, whenever that may be.

This just plain blows.
